QNX CAR 2 — the extended version

The world of video is a ruthless one; just as we posted the QNX CAR demo it was out of date.

But, hold on a minute. As I write this I realize it’s not the video world at all; it’s the software world that creates new technology at breakneck speed. And QNX certainly does its part.

The QNX CAR 2 application platform has come a long way in a matter of months. We needed to update the original video to keep pace with the technology but also to address customer demand for more detailed information.

So this video is a step-by-step demo – definitely not for the tire kicker. But if you really want details on what automakers and tier ones can achieve with QNX CAR technology, hit play.

  1. This is amazing. What a fabulous video. And I don't just mean QNX CAR 2 - it's great to see how far it has come, it looks so slick and powerful. But also the filming itself, picture is so crisp, great audio, perfect cuts between Sheridan and the closeups of the screen. Wish we had that when I was doing the QNX Quickstart Guide videos back then! :) Keep up the great work!

    1. Hey,
I want to develop apps and UI for QNX Car2. Can you please help how to start. How can i get access to teh API's which give car HVAC, climate etc information

    2. Hi Nalem. To develop apps, application partners firsty need to be approved; they can then work with the QNX SDK for HTLM5, which provides the APIs required to create apps for the QNX CAR Platform for Infotainment. Today, we work with a hand-picked group of companies that port apps to the platform, but the plan is to make the SDK more accessible to the developer community at large. To that end, we’ve contributed our APIs to the Apache Cordova project. We are also planning updates to the QNX CAR Platform that will help developers test out their apps without the need for actual hardware. - PaulL
